Introduction

The Javanese Documents Online (JVDO) is an online concordance of Javanese texts.

JVDO makes use of texts from published materials based on various sources of pre-modern Javanese written text, including inscriptions, lontar and paper manuscripts both in Old and Modern Javanese.

The aims of JVDO are to make texts in Javanese and Old Javanese languages available online for research, and to promote Javanese and Old Javanese studies, including literature, culture and history.

JVDO is managed by a voluntary research community consisting of Yumi Sugahara (Osaka University), Koji Miyazaki (Tokyo University of Foreign Studies) and Toru Aoyama (Tokyo University of Foreign Studies), Willem van der Molen (Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde/KITLV) and Oman Fathurahman (Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah).

The JVDO community acknowledges that JVDO is financially supported by JSPS (Japan Society for Promotion of Science) Grant-In-Aid for Scientific Research, and is hosted by ILCAA (the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa ( also known as “AA-ken”) as one of its online research resources.

Please let us know if you find errors and wish to suggest any improvements on the texts. We also welcome those who wish to join the JVDO community and contribute new texts.
